Season Structure:
The season is 17 weeks long. The games are played as a round robin between teams in the same group. Washed out and unplayed games will not be rescheduled. There are no competition tables compiled for U6 - U8 age groups.
Match Information
Be on time for the match. Players need 30 minutes in order to warm up and for the coach to choose the team. Players need to inform the coach or manager of any planned or unplanned absences as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made to field a full team each week. If the coach knows in advance that the team will be short of players for a Saturday match, they should contact the age group co-ordinator to try and borrow another player from another team in the same age group.
If any ovals are closed eg due to rain the MWFA decides on Friday night which matches can be rescheduled. The Competition Secretary will relay information regarding changes or cancellations to Age Group Co-ordinators as it becomes available. Do not make you decision based on wet weather line information. Unless informed otherwise, teams are expected to play at the allotted ground at the scheduled time. Individuals, coaches or managers cannot decide to abandon a fixture.
Duration of game:
Under 6,7 & 8s - 15 minutes each way
A break of 5 minutes is taken between halves of each game.
Teams:
Under 6,7 & 8s - 6 a side
Ball size:
Under 6,7 & 8s - size 3
Referees:
The club will hold a short referee’s course. Each team must nominate at least one responsible person to attend. Those attending will be issued with a Referees Card. Only these people, subject to the conditions below, may referee games:
- Where both teams have Referees Card holders, the referee is appointed from the home team (first mentioned in the draw).
- Where only one team has a card holder, the referee is from that team.
- Where neither team has a card holder, the referee is appointed from the home team.
As many games are played on Saturday mornings, all games must finish on time. Any game starting late must be reduced in playing time, and the time adjusted so that each half is of equal time e.g. 10 minutes each way with 3 minutes half time.
